Summary: Formations is seeking an individual who is looking to enter the sales profession and gain knowledge of our products through entry into warehouse logistics and moving into sales to help establish, build, and maintain impactful relationships with our customers. Our ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude with the ability to adapt to change. As a sales trainee, this growth opportunity will be done in phases to learn every aspect of how our business operates from warehouse shipping and receiving to inside/outside sales. There may be an opportunity for the individual to evolve into a outside sales position based on the individuals performance and future company goals. You will receive guidance and support from your team and manager at the Winnipeg branch as you progress through the phases.

What will your role look like over the next year at Formations?

Phase 1: Warehouse (0-6 months)

  • Loads/unloads trucks and sea cans of interior finishing building materials by forklift. Exercise’s care and attention to avoid damaging product.
  • Safely operates forklifts with carrying capacities of 8,000-10,000 lbs.
  • Manually staging lumber/sheet goods orders
  • Picking orders and rolling Formica sheets for easy transport
  • Completes waybills and filling out paperwork accurately.
  • Exceptional customer service skills required and good business etiquette.
  • Exercises best OHS practices

Phase 2: Customer Service- Inside Sales (6-12 months)

  • Receive incoming communications and process orders.
  • Accurately and efficiently process paperwork (i.e., invoicing, receiving, deposits) and perform supporting administrative duties.
  • Manage the entire sale and delivery process by liaising with all departments involved.
  • Communicate expected delivery dates and verify stock levels/order status for customers.
  • Offer service and support on all customer inquiries.
  • Offer price quotes for new inquiries and negotiate if required.
  • Assist customers who enter our facility and work with them to provide Formation’s products that best suit their needs.
  • Refer OSR’s to prospect leads that have potential for repeat business to strengthen Formations’ relationship with them.
  • Follow up on customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare sample requirements as required.
  • Proactively make outgoing calls to existing accounts to generate sales.

Phase 3: Outside Sales/Managing Accounts (12 months +)

  • Proactively make outgoing calls and visits to generate sales.
  • Prospect new accounts and make cold calls.
  • Prepare responses to RFP (request for proposals) and RFI (request for information) within requested timelines.
  • Identify barriers that prevent or restrict Formations from growing business and market share.
  • Use CRM to ensure updated customer profiles and product pipelines are accurate and relevant.
  • Network with customers and vendors to provide material that fit the manufacturer’s needs.
  • Develop trusted business relationships with influencers at all Formations accounts within their territory and network with designers, architects, builders, contractors, dealers, etc.
  • Submit a variety of sales status reports as required, including activity, closings, and follow-up.
  • Monitor and advise of stock requirements with purchasers, especially on program business to ensure customer orders can be fulfilled on time.
  • Focus efforts on sales and promotion of higher margin value added.

Qualifications and KSA’s:

  • Minimum of 1 year in a warehouse/customer service and or industry related experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Desire to work in a customer-centric sales role, possessing excellent customer service skills and ability to upsell.
  • Solid computer skills required for processing orders, ordering material, checking inventory, etc.
  • Able to work under pressure and have a sense of urgency to set and achieve monthly and annual goals.
