Flexible Veneer

We have some exciting options for you in flexible sanded hardwood veneer sheets.

Hardwood veneer with PolyBak™ flexible backer:

Our most versatile backer option. Super flexible, accepts contact cement extremely well and acts as a barrier to protect against penetration from top coat chemicals. The backer is available in ivory color for lighter tone species such as Maple or Birch. Feel confident you can safely contact cement this veneer & PolyBak™ combination to your substrate without the fear of ‘veneer checking’. This combo also bonds very well using PVA in cold or hot press equipment. Formats available are 4×8 to 4×12 and 5×8 to 5×12.

Hardwood veneer with paperback backer:

Very flexible, super thin backer. Recommended for use only with a PVA rigid bond using either cold / hot or vacuum pressing. Not recommended for use with contact adhesives. Formats available are 4×8 to 4×12, 5×8 to 5×10.

Hardwood veneer phenolic backer:

The most rigid veneer & backer combination we offer; thicker than the PolyBak™ option and an ideal choice for bonds using contact adhesive. This combo also bonds very well using PVA in cold or hot press equipment. Formats available are 4×8 and 4×10.

We stock or have very quick access to the following species: (please check availability at your local branch)

Alder, Anigre Figured, White Ash, Steamed Beech, Birch, Cedar, Cherry, Fir, Hickory, Jatoba, Khaya Mahogany, Maple, Red Oak, White Oak, Pine, Sapele, Teak and Walnut

Richwood’s PolyBak – PB67VNR passed requirements and is compliant with the Architectural Woodworking Standards (AWS) for use as a balancing backer for wood veneer (Balance Sheet Material Rule

The Architectural Woodworking Standard is published and adopted jointly by the Architectural Woodworking Institute (AWI), the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC), and the Woodwork Institute (WI).
